Vitamin D is a hormone that our body can produce itself. Skin exposed to the sun captures the radiation and makes vitamin D. It is also known as the sunshine vitamin. In the autumn and winter months, the sun shines too little in the Netherlands and neighbouring countries, and we wear too many clothes to catch enough solar radiation to make our own vitamin D. This causes a deficiency and we may become pale and tired earlier.

The Health Council recommends seniors and people with darker skin colours to take extra vit D to strengthen bones.

Vitamin D is needed by our body for a lot of uses; for example, it contributes to normal blood calcium levels. It is needed for the normal growth and development of children's bones. It increases calcium absorption in the bones and has a beneficial effect on the cell division process. Vitamin D also contributes to normal immune system function, maintenance of normal teeth and is important for normal muscle function.

This supplement does not contain: preservative, yeast, flavouring, artificial colouring, GMO, sugar, gluten or lactose.
